There is no other procedure that addresses the ravages of pregnancy than Tummy Tuck. During pregnancy the skin and underlying muscle fascia is stretched to accommodate the baby and fat accumulation.
Even if a Mom does dozens of stomach crunches a day, they may find it impossible to lose the excess fat and skin on the tummy. Abdominoplasty, or “Tummy Tuck,” is the answer. All Mommy Makeovers include a Tummy Tuck as part of the plastic surgery plan.
An incision is first made from one hip to the other coursing just above the pubis. The skin and fat are separated from the abdominal muscles. The stretched out abdominal muscles are tightened with a Fascial Plication suturing of the rectus abdomens (six pack) muscles for an hour glass slimming effect in the mid outer torso and a flatten of the tummy contour.
The elevated flap of skin and fat is pulled downward and the excess is removed. The abdominal skin and fat are reattached to the underlying muscle fascia with sutures called Progressive Tension Suturing. This stabilizes the tissue planes and leads to quicker healing with removal of a drain within one week of surgery (instead of 3 to 6 weeks without doing this).
The skin incision are closed with sutures that are under the skin (you won’t even see them). Once healing is complete, you can expect to enjoy a beautifully sculpted and flat stomach.
Obstetricians and Gynecologists often refer patients to Dr. Severinac for abdominoplasty. This procedure can be done during a hysterectomy or other gynecological or urological procedures.
